- The worked diagram reconstructs the 2026-10-31 Count board at the instant it appears using the official game's layout algorithm. Split at x = 400 and y = 250 on its 800 × 500 coordinate system.
- Count the upper-left region (11) and upper-right (14) separately; the upper half contains 25. Then count lower-left (13) and lower-right (15), giving 28 in the lower half.
- Add the four groups: 11 + 14 + 13 + 15 = 53. Assign each dot by its centre, so a dot near a dividing line is counted once.
- Test a tempting shortcut: double the left-half count (24 × 2 = 48). The right half actually contains 29, so this shortcut is off by 5 dots because the layout is not evenly split.
