How to Play Krillion: Tiers, Points and How to Find Rare Answers

A complete guide to Krillion's daily dive — the 25-second timer, the six rarity tiers and their points, the score bearings, and how to think of rare answers fast.

How Krillion scoring works in 20 seconds — a 20-second animated walkthrough made by DleHints.

What is Krillion?

Krillion is a free daily trivia game at krillion.io. Each daily dive has seven prompts such as 'Name a type of sausage', and you have 25 seconds to type an answer for each one.

Any correct answer counts, but the rarer your answer is among everyone who played that day, the deeper you sink and the more points you score. A new dive starts every day at 04:00 UTC.

Rarity tiers and points

Every valid answer lands in one of six tiers: Plankton (10 points), Too Clever (15), Schooler (30), Rare (60), Deep Cut (85) and One in a Krillion (100). Invalid answers score nothing.

Your total maps onto a bearing: 0–150 is Plankton, 151–250 Schooler, 251–350 Rare, 351–449 Deep Cut and 450+ One in a Krillion. The results screen also tells you what percentage of today's players you beat.

Typing rules that cost points

If you misspell something Krillion recognises, it suggests a correction and asks you to submit again to confirm — that confirmation eats into your 25 seconds. Answers it does not recognise get 'no echo, try again'.

When the timer runs out, whatever is in the box is submitted. Clear the field before typing a new attempt.

How to find rare answers

Skip the first answer that comes to mind; it is usually Plankton. For 'Name a TV genre' on dive #80 the most common answers were crime, drama, comedy and horror, while 'Telenovela' was Rare and still chosen by more than 11,000 players.

Go regional or historical. The 100-point answers on dive #80 included 'Mo lei tau' (a Hong Kong comedy style) and 'Jiggle TV' (a 1970s press label) — real, but rarely thought of.

Short obscure members of a category work well under time pressure: four- or five-letter words like Dizi, Kaiju or Giallo were all Deep Cut answers worth 85.

After your dive, open each round on the results screen to see every answer and its tier. That is the fastest way to build a mental list of rare answers for future dives.

Other modes

Besides the daily dive, Krillion has an archive of past dives, themed packs and an unlimited mode ('Keep diving') for practice.
